A Love Letter to the Wounded Self 💖Heart of Healing Trauma

Updated: Jul 9

From the Heart of Healing Trauma series:

Two hands form a heart against a blurred pink and green floral background, creating a warm, affectionate mood.
You made it.

Not just through this series... but through every moment that tried to break you.

This post is different.

There are no instructions. No tips.

Just a love letter - for the part of you that still doubts, still aches, still wonders if it’s okay to hope.

💌 A Letter to the Wounded Self

Dear one,

I know you’ve carried more than your share of burdens, often feeling the weight of the world pressing down upon your shoulders. It’s as though you have been tasked with an impossible load, one that others might not even begin to comprehend.

I know you’ve blamed yourself for things that were never your fault, taking on the guilt and shame that belong to others, allowing their actions to overshadow your own sense of worth. It’s a heavy cross to bear, and I recognize how exhausting it must be to carry such feelings day in and day out.

I know you’ve kept quiet, stayed small, and called it peace, often sacrificing your own voice and presence in the name of harmony. You’ve learned to navigate the complexities of life by minimizing your own needs and desires, believing that this self-effacement would somehow lead to a smoother existence.

But here’s what I see when I look at you:

You’re still here, standing in the midst of the storms that life has thrown your way. You’ve endured, and your resilience shines through even in the darkest of times.

You still care, deeply and profoundly, about the world around you and the people in it. Your capacity for empathy is a testament to your strength, even when you feel depleted.

You still reach for healing, even when it’s hard, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to your own growth and well-being. This journey is not easy, yet you persist, seeking light and understanding amidst the shadows.

That’s not weakness.

That’s strength.

That’s the kind of strength the world doesn’t always notice - but the soul never forgets. It’s a quiet, steadfast kind of power that often goes unrecognized by those who fail to look beyond the surface. Your inner fortitude is a beacon that guides you through the trials of life, even when it feels like no one else sees it.

You are not broken, despite the scars you carry. Each mark tells a story of survival, resilience, and the lessons you have learned along the way.

You are sacred, a unique and irreplaceable being in this vast universe. Your existence is valuable, and your experiences shape the beautiful tapestry of who you are.

You deserve to be loved, wholeheartedly and unconditionally.

Especially by yourself.

It is crucial to cultivate a relationship with yourself that is filled with compassion and understanding, recognizing your worth and embracing your journey.

So please, today - pause and place a hand on your heart, feeling the steady rhythm of your life force within you.

And whisper something kind, something that resonates with your soul and reminds you of your inherent value. Just for you, because you are worthy of your own kindness and love.

Because you are still becoming, evolving into the fullest expression of yourself.

And becoming is never too late; it is a continuous journey, one that unfolds beautifully with each passing day.

Embrace it with open arms, for your story is still being written, and every chapter holds the potential for growth and transformation.

🧘‍♂️ Meditation: Receiving Love from Within

“I Am Worthy of My Own Love” (2 minutes)

Sit comfortably and close your eyes.

Place one hand over your heart.

Feel the warmth of your own touch.

Breathe in slowly… and breathe out with a sigh.

Two people stand back-to-back in a bright, misty field. They're wearing light jackets. The mood is reflective and serene.

Silently say:

“I forgive myself for not knowing what I didn’t know.”

“I am learning to love myself gently, day by day.”

“I am worthy. Even now.”

Let those words echo inside you.

Inhale: Love

Exhale: Acceptance

You are whole. Now and always.

💭 A Final Reflection

What would I say to the younger version of me who was just trying to survive?

Say it now. Say it often.

You are still healing.

But you are already whole.

Thank you for walking this arc of healing.
